This is a fuge that I built a while back which I've had running for probably 3-4 years now.
I had always been fond of the self contained benefits of a fuge but it wasn't till I got a mandarin that I had to take refugiums more serioiusly. I tried several different methods including the in sump chaeto mini-fuge concept, even those little pod hotels or whatever they're called, but none of which worked well enough without constantly reseeding with more pods.
Enter this fuge, I finally settled on this one which I built myself. The proof is in the photos & video taken just earlier today. I haven't added any pods for over 2 years and it still had a healthy population when I shut the tank down a few days ago.
Everything pictured comes included, this is a gravity fuge so in order to use it the fuge has to be slightly elevated from your sump into which it must overflow
Dimensions:
16x12x8
I've left some water and rubble in it for seeding when restarted, a little bit of algae's still in there which should start growing right away once running on your end.
first $100 takes everything, located in Hayward Hills by fairview;
- Acrylic fuge
- Plumbing attached creating an overflow, etc.
- Par light and arm
- Tubing with return pump
