Not too many of these around. Lineage goes back to Dave Tran and Eddie at Tropical Paradise. I was one of the first to get a frag before the colony was 'stolen'.

This is a 3" mini colony fully encrustred on an aquaculture base. $150.

i guess u can call it a dalton tort. dave, solitaryensis and myself got frags from aquatic reflections when dalton started out. that sucker grows real slow, so its pretty impressive u have a good sized piece.
 
Dalton Tort does sound a bit better than Dave Tort:p ...does anyone have the George Echinata?:lol:

thats pretty nice of u. someone should also give a black clam to eddie's. u may remember that when his store was fairly new someone gaffled a nice good sized black max from one of his tanks.
 
Damn! So, that's 3 stolen pieces of heard of now. Eddie's PM, the Dave Tort, and a black maxima.

I hope the new store has security cameras and a pair of Dobermans (a rare blue and a rare white, of course:lol: ).

Erik, thanks for the frag earlier this year, nice tort, but as Alex said .... sloooooow grower. Your tank is really really nice.

Gresh ..., I tought Eddie told me that he won't set up a display tank anymore, as I asked him if he will be interested in getting back some of his stuff from his display tank that I have.

last i heard he will be setting up a display. he was initially interested in my 360 but it never happened.

If that the case, it will be great. His reasoning was he might be in & out and he can't trust people to take care of display tank. We'll see.

Alex, BTW, it seems you are in RC more now, after you decided to quit, so I hope you are having a second tought on this :)

lol. not really. i guess im on here cuz im interested in the hobby still but have no desire to start a tank anytime soon. ill just live vicariously through all of your tanks and corals.

Glad to hear it is doing well! What color has it taken on for you.?

the slooooow growth is the main reason the price of these frags remains high. I have distributed only 3-4 frags since I have owned it (4+ years). Not sure how many other colonies are out there but its wise to spread the love just in case something happens to our tanks.
 
damn those planted tanks are nice and im sure they require the same dedication as a reef tank.

the dalton tort not only grows slowly it doesnt encrust much. i fragged mine probably only 3-4 times for the 2 years i had it. u shouldve seen the original colony. it was a decent size but was fragged due to bleaching.
 
Erik, the color is the same as yours at this time and I think there is a slightly purple hue. It is located near the ORA tort and you can really tell the different.

Now, I wonder who own Eddie's PM piece? Or is it completely disapear from hobbyist?

I love Amano's work too and I have one of his book and his magazine in Japanese too. There is a nice ADA's store in Fillmore Street, near to Japantown/Kabuki Theatre. They are selling all ADA's stuff. I love to see their display tank.
I think planted tank is even a lot more work than reef tank if you are doing Amano's stuff, since you have to trim regularly.
Looking at the book , they trim it very meticulously to have the same height (very very Japanese like) for certain area, so I am not sure if I have the mentality to keep it beautiful. ADA has a sister company in Houston, TX now, but I can't recall the name now.
 
I know where a colony of the PM went to from TP, it wasn't stolen, that's for sure. Maybe the reefer whom has it will chime in, but I'm not gonna drop the dime on him and so that he gets flooded with pm's for frags of PM :) Eddie knows he has it in fact.

Nah, I know Gresham has it. I think Rich (Thales) does, too. Mine's not even worth mentioning. It grows slower than the Tyree PM and almost as slow as Jesus' Echinata:(
