FS/group buy: 55gal white plastic drums

I found a source for white plastic 55 gal drums. They're used by a local company then sent for recycling. I picked one up a couple days ago to see how well it would work & research the residuals.

I can buy what they have if I give them notice. $20 apiece, taking orders now.

Standard 55 gallon drum, heavy duty white plastic. Closed top with 2 large bung holes. They contained Potassium Hydroxide, which is safe (even used in some reef additives) although I'll be thoroughly cleaning mine out. New drums like this go for $70-80, used ones I've found for $50-60.

I'm going to buy at least one more, that way I can run my RO/DI to one and use another to keep NSW on hand.

I can snap a picture tonight. If I get enough people together I'll let them know I'm coming to pick up a load. I can't make it to Lee's house this month, but we can arrange a pickup site. Good opportunity for cheap water storage!

You said bung hole...

Make sure you get a picture of the bung hole...

heh,heh,heheheha...

(it's hard to do Beavis and Butthead in text)

Okay, for the serious question, what is the approximate size of one of these? Trying to see if it would fit in a space I have.

Thanks!

I've got Jarrod down for one. Gotta take a pic of the bung hole (I knew someone was going to have to not let that go) for Mr 2nd Grader plus measurements. I'll try to get that done tonight.

Just because you get older, doesn't mean you have to grow up!

And I'll blame it on the paint fumes from the painting I've been doing, they make you a little crazy.

Drums are 35" tall with a 23.5" diameter.

Way cool, but I just got shot some dirty looks for considering to put one of these where I had been thinking. So I guess I'll have to pass (unless someone knows how to disguise one to look like an end table to something).

Nothing a little plywood couldn't make happen...

Jarrod, when do you want yours? I can try to get one tonight and meet up with you this weekend. I'll grab that power supply from you if you still have it. Give me a call, 277-1387.
