FS: Maroon Clown Pair

When I took down my tank, I got a 24G cube so I could keep my old maroon clown (my favorite fish). She is large for a captive maroon clownfish and she doesn't seem to be happy in such a small tank. I have had her almost 6 years and the owner before me had her 3-1/2 years before he got her from somebody else. I have no idea how old she it, but I would say she easily exceeds 10 years old. I also have a little maroon clown I got from Matt when it was way smaller than what you can buy in the stores. They paired up immediately and are together constantly. In fact, he likes to push her over on her side and sit on her for most of the day (even though she is more than 20 times his mass). She is protective of him and does nip if you come near their "nesting" spot. I have never seen her lay eggs, but then I do not believe the little guy is mature yet.

Here is a picture of the large female from a couple years ago:

I can get more up-to-date pictures if you need them.

I am asking $40 for the pair. And since I am rather attached to these guys, I would like your assurances of a good home (so be prepared to describe your setup). Yeah, I'll probably go SPCA on you (except I won't ask for visitation rights like they do).

And local pickup only. No exceptions.

Thanks.

Same terms, but I'd let them go to a good home for $30. I'll try to get a recent pic posted tomorrow.

Scott, isn't that the maroon clown that's HUGE?

I know one of you guys has a clown that's a frickin' giant but I just cannot remember who had it.

wonder how well she'd do in the predator tank? I am looking for an active fish to compliment the small lionfish and 10 inch eel.

Yeah, she's the one, Mel. I think the only one I've seen comparable size is one of those that Matt uses for breeding.

I don't know about a clown in with a lion fish or eel. She is aggressive when defending her little friend, but I don't think she could stand up to the lion fish for long.

I still have these guys for sale. Let me know if you are interested. I really want to find them a good home and would consider fair trades.

I'm in elizabethton and setting up a 110 now so I would take them but will need a few weeks.
Where are you located?

Antonio.

Sale just fell through due to circumstances beyond the control of the buyer. The maroon pair is still available.

Looks like I have a trade in the works now.

Here is a pic of the two together (taken this week). Please pardon the bad color temp and the salt mess on the glass:

Heh. Didn't notice it until after I took the pic. It showed up in the flash where it didn't show up too well in a dark room. By then I was too lazy to spend another 2 minutes taking and downloading another pic. ;)

Looks like the trade is on hold for a time because of potential tank-mate interactions, so the pair are still available.

They have a new home now where I hope they'll have more room and be happier. My tank seems awfully empty now, though. My youngest son was sad to see them go.

Thank you

Thank you

Thank you Scott. I hope they will be happy in my 75 G tank. I put them in the tank around 3.5 hours ago. I usually turn off the light to reduce the stress for new fish . So no picture. She is so big. I've never seen maroon clown that big before. I'll post the picture.

Heh. Cool pics and nice tank. Good to see that they appear to be doing well and have such a nice new home. I can see she has found a "nesting" site and is rearranging your substrate. :) That is the same exact spot where she set up home in my old 75G tank. Only difference is I had an overflow right overhead.

If you put any smaller rocks or frags in the vicinity of her new location, I recommend that you cement or super-glue-gel them in place. She has a habit of kicking out all inanimate intruders into her space.

Ashley's GSM's do the same thing... Drives me insane because they like to cover corals in the sand bed... :(

Great looking tank blueray!!!

I hope Melly behaves herself when she sees this thread... ;)
