FS: Maxima Clams

If you want to give them a new home, sell them cheap or better yet give them to another reefer, who can take care of them. :)

$30 for an almost dead clam is pretty expensive :) ..

my lighting is only PC lighting thats also why i want to give them a new home.

Yep, and until you get a taker, it might help to get the clam up as close as possible to the PC lighting.

Phyto-Feast is phytoplankton :D Did you try another brand as well, is that what your saying?

Qwiv waswn't bashing yah. He was pointing out a loophole that actually isn't a loophole. If this thread were to be referred to the mods, it would be closed as you do have to have 50 posts to put somehting up for sale. This stops uncsrupulous (sp?) vendors froim getting on under aliases and sell their wares.

As everyone has already stated, those clams dont look healthy. Maybe bad timing? Bad angle? Whatever the case, dont take some of the comments so personally. Once you get to know the people on this forum, youll understand that people care A LOT more about the livelyhood of these animals as you might think.

That being said, i would encourage you to do a bit more research on future purchases. I know how tempting it can be to purchase "cool" looking animals but the hobby, but particuarly this forum, really frowns on stuff like that. You probably paid what going retail rate is, if not a bit more, which is another reason why you are having a difficult time with the sale. If you are really interested in providing these animals with a better home, im sure there are plenty of people (including me :)) that would "adopt" them but as it stands, im afraid you will have a hard time getting rid of them because of the price and the condition.

Whatever the case, good luck

I actually heard that with small clams, they get more energy from feeding from phytoplankton than from light. Since they are small and their tiny mantles don't provide enough food via xoozanthelae (whatever).

I concur with Zepplock. We have two of those little guys here in a 15g tank under 130W PC lights and they have grown (you can see the growth in the shells). Of course the owner feeds them phytofeast almost daily (he adds ALOT).

I'm sure that in the long run, MH are better, but I think that with phyto feeding, they can thrive even under PC lights. Though I know clam guys are gonna jump me for saying that.

FWIW, I also bought some of those little Maximas that are now living in my tank at home under MH's. One of them went on a death walk, but the two remaining ones are quite nice!

hang in there and get some phytofeast!

Yah, sorry about that. There have been a lot of new members selling on the board and a few have been quite fishy, one absolutly no good. I am not picking directly at you, I would have reported the thread if I had a true issue with your particular post.

You put a warantee on those clams, and I'll buy them.
