FS: Want to control more stuff on AquaController Jr or AC3?

Hello everyone. I wanted to control 4 more items than the DC8 would allow so I read up on the ACjr and found out it would control up to 12 items. I looked at adding a DC4, DC4HD or another DC8 and thought the price was a bit more than I wanted to spend. I shopped around and found a deal on a bunch of X10 stuff. I bought it all and weeded out what I would need and now I am offering the extras for sale. I could just hang on to it for spares but I think I would rather let the stuff go now and risk having to pay out to replace it later if it goes bad.

So, for sale I have enough equipment to control FOUR MORE devices IN ADDITION TO the DC8. A nice feature of this method is that you can have up to 500w on each module and use them on different outlets to not overload one circuit for your tank.
All you need to do is plug the phone cord into your DC8 and then into the Interface Module (included) then plug that into the wall.
Anywhere in your house, you plug one of the 4 included Appliance Modules and assign it a name in the ACjr. Then you tell the ACjr when to turn it off and on and it magically clicks on or off according to the parameters you assign.

I have heard of guys using these to turn their Xmas trees on and off with the ACjr timers :)
I used mine to run a few of the heavier items like my IC660 ballasts so I didn't overload the DC8 by running 4 of them and all the other stuff on there at once.

I added a Solana tank and needed to control the 150w MH lighting so I added another Appliance Module and set it to the same code as one of the IC660's and it clicks on and off at the same time too!

You could honestly control LOTS of things if they were tied together like 15 different tanks all with the same lighting schedule could be run from the same ACjr switch location. You could turn them on and off by using 15 modules set to the same address. They do not have to be anywhere NEAR each other, just on the same household wiring. You can control lighting for all your tanks on 3 different floors from one ACjr.

Well here's the breakdown of what is being offered:

(1) X10 PL-513 Powerline Interface Module

(3) RadioShack 61-2684B Appliance Modules (same as X10 Appliance Module)

(1) LM465 Lamp Module (allows for dimming on the circuit and could easily dim moonlights according to ACjr built-in moon phase schedule)

(1) phone cord to link to your DC8

I will sell the set for $70 and could meet someone or they are welcome to stop by here if preferred. I work in Medina and could easily meet near there after 4:30pm or if you want to come out here for them I could cut some cheap frags too :)

Considering that the DC4 costs $127.99, the DC4HD is $129.99 and the DC8 is $149.99 and all of those will be "plus shipping". This is a pretty cheap way of getting the most out of your ACjr or AC3. It is nice to not have to run a cord all the way to the DC8 from the fuge to turn lights on and off. I am also turning my upstairs 92g tank's lights on and off this way from the basement.

PM me to arrange exchange

I was of the thought that x-10 was a nightmare for tanks and nothing but problems. I'd hold onto the stuff for a little bit Kevin if I were you.
I believe Mike had x-10 stuff and hated it and went all to dc-8's/4's

So, if there's a chance that one out of 3 sets of my lights not coming on for one day it would be the end of the world? LOL
There have been cases where people get interference and have to buy a filter for $20. I wouldn't put anything critical like a calcium reactor or heaters on the X10 circuits but I have had them going for a while on lights and have no misfires at all. I am amazed that guys ran AC2's for years without having huge issues with the X10's. I think John Janda uses them for his tank too.
Mike told me that they were no problem at all on his system. I have my 4 tanks running on them and have the extra stuff for sale.

My suggestion is for guys that have a DC8 with all sockets full and want to add up to 4 more devices that the ACjr can control up to 12. This is the most economical way to get it done.

Sorry, You no rc isn't to move items its to inform people :) :)

I think its 50/50 though, some people love them some hate them. But I do believe mike pulled them off his system due to issues with them.
Im with you though, I'd trust lights on them but thats about it

No... RC is to totally scam people into buying your junk isn't it?

I am totally satisfied with the way they are working and that's why I am offing the second set to anyone with an ACjr or AC# that doesn't want to spend double the money on the DC4/8. It's a good solution for anyone that wishes they had a few more outlets in their DC8. The moonlights on a variable/dimmable X10 module is a nice feature too. You can dim up to 300w anywhere between full and off power.

I have had issues in the past with X-10 modules. I only use one now to control a cooling fan over my sump. As long as I use the sender unit and the outlet unit on the same circuit it works fine. I had my kalk stiring pump on an x-10 unit on another circuit and it would work intermittently. I ended up adding another DC8 to eliminate that issue.

Ok you had to go and bring me into this:D Yes I am currently using a AC2 controller (don't know where it could have come from) with X10 modules on my tank. I have to couch that statement in that I currently have just my lighting and powerheads on the controller. I occassionally have a misfire but like kevin said if one of my lights doesn't come on it is probably not a big deal. When I setup my controller ( mike gets the blame for that purchase) I slowly added things that I was controlling. If it worked correctly then I added more. So far I have the 03Atinics on 1 module, the 50/50 on another, the Aquasuns on a third and the halides on a 4th. That way I can vary the lighting through the day and sinulate dawn/dusk effect. I also have the moon lights on one with the controller programmed for the moon phases. I also use the X10's to control the powerheads and it alternates the powerheads for a more random pattern. I also agree what works for one person may not be the best for another. One needs to go slow and see what works best for them.

P.S. the X10 modules that come from West Salem are a different breed:D
