Hey everyone, I'm new to RC but have been on The Reef Tank for about 6 years. Finally made the move over here. Been keeping saltwater tanks for about 15 years, and reef tanks for the past 6.
This is my current tank, a 65 mixed reef. Has been running almost a year now. It started life as a simple 40 breeder build, with the intent of growing a lagoon style tank with seagrass. That didn't work well so I bought an Eshoppes Ghost Overflow and sump to get it done right. I cracked the first tank while drilling it, so had to buy 40breeder #2. That one was up for about 6 months and I noticed a pressure crack in the back glass. Evidently I tightened the 2 bulkhead fittings on the overflow box slightly differently, so over time a pressure crack formed. I decided that I am done with the thin glass of the 40's, so I ordered a reef ready 65 gallon tank from my LFS. This tank has been great so far.
Equipment-
-Current USA Orbit LED light (soon to be supplemented with 2 t5's)
-Seaclone skimmer (works ok, was free from a friend, will upgrade when it dies)
-Aquahub ATO system
-Other standard stuff like heater, return pump, blah blah blah
Livestock-
-Juvenile sailfin tang
-Damsel that seems to know his place
-Filefish (may be removed, I think has been munching on my Duncan coral)
-Cleaner wrasse
-Yellow watchman goby/tiger pistol shrimp
-Peppermint shrimp
-Hermits/nassirus snails/conch/serpent star
-Green birdsnest
-Green/brown/blue montipora
-Derasa clam
-Duncans
-Giant hairy mushrooms
-GSP
-1 orange ricordea
-Mixed zoas
-Clove polyps
-Green neptha
-Devils hand leather (I believe)
-Candy cane
I think that covers it. Pictures below will show from the beginning (stand building) to its current state.
Feedback is welcome, thanks!
