i purchased a this fish over three months ago. its eating live food great but i am having a hard time getting it to take anything else. i tried krill and silver sides but no luck. if there are any experts with better ways i would appreciate it.

Feeding Fu

I used frozen krill, put it on a stick and shook it around. Eventually he started tagging it, and over time he started gulping it. I let him get hungry for 3 or 4 days first though, and it may have helped that I had a little Valentini Puffer that he watched attack the Krill.

fu's are notoriously tuff to wean, and some never wean.

we've had great success weaning tuff fish using an "invisible" feeding stick. it's a clear feeding stick with a length of 50 lb monofilament attached to one end:

what kind of live food are you feeding?

if it's ghosties, try a dead/partially dead one on the stick. let the fish see it from a distance before bringing it closer. try to let the fish stalk the food.

the same with guppies...put one in the freezer for about 5 mins in a bit of water. the fish will slow down and appear dead. then put it on the stick and as it warms up, the fish will wiggle. chances are the fu will strike it. once this happens a few times, switch out the tail section of a silverside (looks a lot like a guppy) and try that.
