I bought a clip on porcelain clamp lamp.. was going to use a 65000k daylight bulb will that ok? or maybe use a regular 75 watt light bulb for a fuge light?

6500 is a good choice. I have a 6500 and a 4200 in my fuge a my macros love it.They sell the coil type in that kelvin at home depot.

Yea that lamp will work just fine.I see alot of guys useing them on there fuges with greta results.I'm sure a regular 75 will do since its more on the yellow side of the spectrum, but I would get a 6500 again when the next time presents itself. The coil type prodce less heat, use less energy, and last like 4 times longer than the standard ones.I noticed my caleripa didn't really care but my cheato seems to like the 6500 better.

http://www.melevsreef.com/fuge_bulb.html Here's a good thread to read about what your looking for.Read it all though it helped me alot when I got started.I would watch you tank temp though to see how mush heat that ceramic housing is producing. He talks about some bulbs in this link that have built in feflectors like a flood light that don't produce alot of heat and you can use stanard type housings if that one is making it to hot.

nice article.. i just read on the porcelain clamp lamp needed a 100 watt bulb.. so i might have issues with going something less..

Well, what are you trying to get out of the lamp.Light or heat? I would guess only light. Some people run there fuge lights 24-7.I run mine on a reverse daylight cycle to help keep the ph stable when the main display lights are off.It looks like the need of 100 watts is to make the after glow effect work.Kinda like a moon light.Don't really need moon lights on a fuge.

Well good luck with it .Fuges are great.I spend as much time on the floor looking in my fuge as I do looking in my Tank.Such a different world. Not to mention all the benifitts that come from having them.

Well, it's in the back of my biocube, and very much hidden -- I'm doing it primarily as a way of controlling the algae I constantly get on the glass....we'll see how it goes!! Thanks for the encouraging words....

luxo-- those lil lights look like they don't put off much light.. id hate to bought that lamp clamp for nothing.. i'm just worried it causing a fire or melting the hang on fuge..
