Fuges

I've been wanting to add a refugium to the tank to help build up some pod populations and to help pull some nitrates/phosphates out of the water. The only problem is that I have a metal stand for my tank and the idea of sticking any significant weight on the shelf beneath it makes me a little nervous. Also, my tank is not drilled, so I'd need to get a hang on overflow (more money and I'd expect more problems). So, a hang on unit seems like a perfect solution. Does anyone have experience with hang-on fuges? Opinions? I've seen some with skimmers incorporated, are they any good (I already have a skimmer, but from what I understand it is hard to overskim)? Any suggestions on where to get one (hopefully with any necessary lights and pumps included) at a decent price?

I have a CPR Aquafuge PS. Its nice and does the job, but if I had to do it again, I would have never got one. They are too much money for what they do. Do yourself a favor and get the overflow and sump. You can easily build your own with a little time and have a much better setup for about the same price as buying a CPR Aquafuge PS straight out.

If I were to go with something under my tank, my biggest concerns are the overflow box and the pump for water return. I have a 60 gal tank and would probably use a 20 that I have sitting around for the fuge. Can someone recommend a reliable and quiet overflow? Anyone have any they want to sell? Also, I'm going to have to pump the water about 5' up from my fuge and still have enough water flow to do anything. I'll need a pump that can handle that. Recommendations? Anyone have one lying around? Finally, I'm going to need help convincing my girlfriend that its really a good idea to spend the money and take up the extra space in our living room, so if you know how to do hypnosis, let me know :)

Thanks

I have a CPR CS50 overflow. It's easy and has been reliable. They aren't cheap but, is anything in this hobby cheap?
