Fumes and fish tanks

This is probably a stupid question, but....

I'm going to be painting the floor of my basement with either an epoxy or an acid stain. Are the fumes going to be detrimental to the reef tanks which are in the basement? I'll be using an external exhaust/vent thing to blow the air out of the basement to the outside of the house through a window.

Thanks for the input.

I would try to seal off the tank as best as possible. It can't be good for it. And turn off the skimmer. No need to directly infuse the water with it.

Yes, any fumes in the air are consumed by the water surface. Your tank is like a sponge.
Years ago I used Bin primer on my walls prior to painting my new house. My 125 turned as white as milk! I was shocked that I didn't loose a single fish. My protein skimmer eventually cleaned the tank in a few hours. Scary experience, but I learned how easily tanks absorb what ever is in the air.

I read on the forum someone was refinishing the wood floors on the 1st floor and his tank was in the basement. He sealed, had an open window. Everything died, so I guess you never know. I used that garage epoxy from Home Depot, it had barely any smell. I guess it depends on the product.
