Funny thing happened today

I had an interesting day today, Bruce dropped by to pick up the $20.00 we owed him from the club fund. Bruce doesn't make it in much anymore so it's cool when he shows up. For those who have no idea who Bruce is, he is the 2nd founder of the CVRC there were originally 3 of us who put this together, Matt, Bruce and me. Anyway Bruce donated the first 2 years of web space for the CVRC site which he didn't have to do. When the site dues came back up for renewal I told him it was cool as we had enough in club funds to pay him this time. Problem is I did'nt have the money today when he dropped by. We need to get the funds in a central location ASAP so we can get these meetings paid for and get bigger prizes. We are attempting to do a small nano type tank give away this time as a door prize and we need to make sure we stay on top of things from this point on. There should never be a surplus in funds as each meeting should pay for the next entirely. Either way the CVRC sites future is in question at a point where it is just starting to make a difference with added features such as our chat and local forum.
Why am I posting this? Because I need opinions on what you want, local website or no website? Do you find it valuable or not?

This was actually just for the site name and the privacy part of it for the year. The hosting is still paid up through next year I think. I'm pretty sure I went ahead and paid for two years last time.

I really wish I had more time to make it to Nitro to hang out. I enjoyed my visit yesterday. Hopefully I'll find some time over the next few months to make it there a few more times, would be even nicer if I could find time to make a meeting.

Unfortunately, time is very limited for me these days. I'm generally working my regular job or our family business. If I'm not doing that I'm working on my father in laws home in Parkersburg getting it ready to sell. He passed away about a month ago so things have been hectic as far as that is concerned. Not only that I'm hoping to break ground on our new home within the next few weeks.

Honestly, I'm not busy or stressed out right now. Working 45 - 55 days straight seems to get to you after a while. Oh yeah, I've gone from getting 150 - 250 miles a week in on the bike to being lucky to ride once every two weeks.

Forgot to mention that I really appreciated you offering to give me the money out of your pocket. I just don't think that would be right. I would rather continue paying it out of my pocket than to allow you to.

IMO yes it's valuable.
I thought we'd already set the money aside after the last meeting to pay for it?

We did but it's not in my hands.
I think we may need to get someone who lives a bit closer to be the holder of the funds, that way things can get paid for faster and there will be no further delays in prizes and other fees.

Chris we appreciate your donation and know your good for it. My post is to shed light on a few situations as a general report to the members as to where the money they donate to the club goes i.e back into the club. Get that in soon and we'll order one of those nano type tanks for a prize give away.

OK so it sorta sounds like the clubs has funds ---- but they are not "available".... I know I have not been around for just over a year but man I guess things have changed... So where is the money and who is the treasurer? And are they together the money and the treasurer that is....

Actually to avoid the whole "treasurer" political thing I asked for a volunteer to be the club "buyer". All funds raised were to be used to pay for each meeting thus no need for a surplus and arguments about what to get next etc. I didnt want to be the Buyer because of the link with the shop and all the negative crap that goes with that. So Igosalt volunteered for the position and I asked her to be in charge of fund raising and buying. However she lives pretty far away and it's just not working out the way we thought it would with the distance, her projects and other things that always get in the way the payments are late. We all have those other things and theres nothing wrong with that at all. This is in no way meant to be a negative post, it's only a report on the situation and to seek a way to keep this issue from becoming a problem in the future. Thanks to Chris this meet will have prizes either way but we need those funds ASAP to pay the dues or something has got to give.

Well, the money GMAC Mortgage gives can be used for whatever the club needs it for. Door prizes help bring people in, but bills need to be paid. Use it however you deem necessary!:rollface:
