Fuzzy Dwarf Lion?

Hi ReefCentral!

I was considering getting a Fuzzy Dwarf Lion for my Reef tank. I did have a few concerns, though.

1. Will he nip at corals? I keep both LPS and SPS.
2. What size tank should he be kept in (minimum)?
3. Will he stay hidden ALL of the time?
4. Will he eat very large Peppermint Shrimp?

Thanks!

1) doubt it
2) I'd say 75g, but he could probably be kept in something smaller
3) Should come out often, depending on your fish. But they do hang out quite a bit
4) I bet yes, eventually.

lions don't have any interest in coral at all, altho some will "perch" on them.

i'd say a 55 gal would be ideal for a fuzzy, but a 40 breeder would be a good choice too. they will use every bit of space you offer them.

as mentioned, they will find a place to perch, often against a vertical surface, however, whenever they see the "food god", they will come running in hopes of a handout.

the pep will be toast in short order.

lions are excellent choices for a reef tank as long as there are no bite-sized fish or crustaceans in residence.
