Fuzzy Leather Wont Open?

last night when i came home it was open and all the polyps were extended like normal... i aclimated a blue tang then let the fish go along with some Frog Spawn and a green mushroom rock... then for some reason it just closed up and hasnt opened up once today (i know cause i have been home)... this seems kinna odd for me cause since i had the thing it has never really been closed like this since the first day i put it in the tank... any reason i should look into? SG is 1.022... alk 8... all other readings are 0... temp 80

i added some VitaChem to the QT tank that was holding the Frogspawn and the mushroom rock... so there was prolly some of that on the 2 corals that were transfered into the main display tank... but im not sure if that would effect the leather.

well he will be in the QT tomorrow for MHLLE... that'll give the leather a nice chill period any other reasons might come to mind?

Don't worry, it is very common for leathers to remain closed for days at a time. Just make sure you keep a good amount flow on it and that it's not starting to rot and you'll fine. It will open again soon.

leathers go through periods where they do not open. they will build up a slime layer and slugh it off. Another reason is they do not like high Calcium levels. I have heard over 410 but from my experiance, they do fine at that level. Definatly do not like levels around 500.

After tripling in size the polyps on mine never looked fuzzy again. No nippery here but the fact that they are sensitive to Ca 2+ being over 410 makes me wonder...no, I'm sorry, ponder.
