red looking velvet something on my stylo and teal bird. The polyps have almost totally retracted on the entire arm of the stylo where it is affected. The teal bird doesnt seem bothered by it, other than over the exact polyps where affected. Poor pics, but pics none the less. Anyone know what it is?

Whoa, no offense but those pics just gave me a headache. Clearer pics might help get you some answers.

Have you checked for excess nutrients? Like Nitrates and Phosphates? When mine where high, my birdsnests started getting the same aglea/bacteria (Like Cynobacteria) on the tips, My guess (if I had to take a stab) is that your nutrients are high, have you checked them? Also might want to check your Alk and Magnesium while your at it... Just a suggestion...Good Luck and watch for RTN...

See how the back of the tank is more in focus than the coral? That's because the camera was too close to the coral and couldn't focus. Move back the distance from the coral to the back wall and take a picture which should then have the coral in focus. A sharp picture of a smaller coral is easier to diagnose with than a fuzzy closeup.

Without being able to see well, any chance you've experienced burnt tips and algae is now growing there?

yea, it looks like an algae. It could be from burnt tips, but i think it may be from my Vagabond BF...I've caught him picking...but can't catch him. My parameters are all stable and in check, and its not excess nutrients for sure (I had to lower the rate of my GFO reactor about a month ago because the tank was TOO clean).

I think it may be time to build a better fish trap...

Thanks for the replies guys.
