I was talking with my mom today, telling her I was thinking of toss some in the creek that runs along the edge of our property (to get rid of em and clean up some of the algae perhaps) and she suggested tossing them in 'the big tank'. She thought I was insane when i couldnt stop laughing.

Assuming those snails are from S. America, I wouldn't throw them in the creek as they are a non-native spps. If only they were SW, I have a hungry trigger that would love them. :D

Chris,
Please do not put anything from an aquarium into a local creek. There are numerous documented cases of invasive species becoming established from a person releasing them into a local waterway. The snails might not survive anyways since water temp is 50-60 F right now.
There are probably plenty of snails already in the creek so your few snails probably would not make a difference anyways.
Mike
