After finding a zoo-eating nudi on my rock (only found 1 in each tank--combing 2 tanks-1), I am planning on doing a FW dip before moving anything into my new tank.
1) Lugol's or Reef Dip?
2) Tap or RO?
I was hoping I wouldn't have to make more buckets of RO, in addition to the 60+G I have to mix up w/SW for the tank.
3) Do I really have to adjust pH? How is that done?
I was figuring to filling a big fiberglass tub I have w/SW from the tank, dip each piece in FW, place in vat. All the corals will go into the vat & all the LR (do I have to dip that too?) will go into styros, so I can easilly see size & acess w/o bothering the corals. Since I can only make 30g of water at a time & have ot move the sand that's under the corals, they will proobably have to stay in that fat for a day or 2. I will put the PC light over them & add a few powerheads. They will be dipped again in FW, before going into the new tank.
4) Do I have to cover the LR w/SW too?
5) What about all my crabs? The Sally lightfoots might run off the rocks but the emeralds & porcelin (sp?) will still be attached. I don't want anything to happen to them by dipping.
After moving everything out of my tank, I will scoop off the top 2" of live sand.
6) Should that go into my main tank (doing about 2" sand) or my fuge (doing DSB), which isn't set up yet, cause it's going where my present tank is now?
Then, depending on how rank the remaining sand is, I plan on rinsing it in a bucket outside with a hose, to reuse.
7) Sound good? Anything else I need to know?
