Does anyone fresh water dip their newly aquired clams either before or after the proper acclimation process prior to placing into the main tank? Thanks.

IMO & IME, I would not suggest doing that, they are stressed from shipping and would wait a few days for to settle in before causing more stress. You might get by with that with coral but causing more stress to something that is already stressed may or may not cause it's death.
