FX5 or 306?

I have a 5 year old FX5 that I just put on my tank for extra filtration after having it sit for 2+ years. The motor is shot and needs to be replaced. The motor cost is @ the same as a new 306. This is just extra filtration and a place for media. I don't really need the capacity of the FX5 a 306 would do just fine for my needs. What would you do? Repair the FX5 or buy a new 306?

Yes - This will go in the sump. Also it is for a freshwater planted tank. 125g + sump.

Ahhhhhh I'd personally replace the fx6 motor. Even if it's overkill, once repaired, you have a more valuable filter than the smaller one
