Pet Warehouse on South Campbell has a small Powder Blue Tang for $44.95. I would definitely qurantine it as most of the tanks contain ich but pretty good looking PBT at a very reasonable price.

They also have some nice Bubble Tip Anems for $30.

Hurry though as the tanks really seem to be going down hill fast.

Soap Box Rant....Sorry

Soap Box Rant....Sorry

I think the ick comes free with anything from that store.

I just stopped in to pickup some dogfood and was shocked to see a beautiful, very small PBT....swimming around and looking very fit. A few tanks down is a formerly beautiful Purple Tang now covered in ich and on his last fin I'm afraid. Not to mention the giant Yellow Tang swimming tight circles in what appears to be a 15gal tank...2 Black & White Osc. Clowns laying on bottom of tank, on their side...heavily breathing. And the employee fishing out a dead Blue Atlantic Tang and I just thought what a shame....what an awful shame.

And then I thought maybe someone could rescue this poor little PBT from his almost assured fate. If the store doesn't kill it they'll sell it to some newbie along with a Nemo and well...the same fate.

I don't know.....I guess I'm just rambling...I'm not the Green Peace type but I think in this hobby we sometimes are a little cavalier with these remarkable creatures. Oh well it died, I'll just buy another.

And my $0.02 worth to LFS please have a little more respect for these creatures and for the Hobby...I am more than a little offended when I see dead, abused and mistreated creatures on display. A little knowledge, care and common sense goes along way. If a fish is sick, remove from display and QT, If a fish is dead for God's sake get it out. If a Fish is 5-6" in size and is use to free swimming in the Ocean...don't put it in a Gold Fish bowl!

So.....Go Hug your fish today!

and I'll shut up.

the problem with pet stores most of the help does not know anything about what they sell I used to work for that company and so did my friend . We both are not experts but we have knowleadge on fish and corals .but to be honest some of our co workers called the clowns The nemo fish and the hippo tang Dorie . I see also they put corls in with fish that eat them and star fish that are not reefsafe in coral tanks . This is my 2 cents if i buy a coral i want to know what light or flow i need to use . the same with the fish . what food do they need to eat . What medications they ned to fix my problem . so this why i do not go there at all

i've made a "mercy purchase" at the pet warehouse on kearney and kansas(?). i went in and found a 5" and 7" foxface in a 30gal TALL that had no power going to it to speak of. i dunno how long this had been the case - but i knew i could "save" one of the guys so i took him home. he looked TERRIBLE for about 10 days - but he soon perked up and he became a favorite of mine.
i've never really seen the prices that our LFS have to pay for their livestock, but even a greedy person can see that there's simply a better ROI (return on investment) with LIVEstock than with "DEADstock" (which sounds like a place to meet a lot of folks with tie-dye).
i've considered asking for a district manager's name and number or SOMETHING and presenting myself as the SEAS prez rather than some with a shaved head and sandals :D
i know i don't go in there anymore for my other pet needs b/c they don't need anymore money that can be used to continue their horrid treatment of their reef-related livestock.
they should
STOP CARRYING salwater livestock in their stores - like petsmart did. i think petsmart stopped b/c they realized that they weren't seeing a lot of $$$ from saltwater sales - so they nixed it.
open up their warehouse (General Pet) so that us saltwater enthusiasts can see their livestock before it becomes clinging-to-livestock.
at the LEAST - provide MUCH BETTER, FREE handouts to their customers... maybe something like one of those Branson brochure dispensing thingys you see in every hotel lobby chock fulla BASIC, GENERALIZED information that could point newbie hobbyists in the right way.
oh well, sorry to rant - just had the morning free of distractions - and the lights aren't on yet over the 110 :smokin:
