i've made a "mercy purchase" at the pet warehouse on kearney and kansas(?). i went in and found a 5" and 7" foxface in a 30gal TALL that had no power going to it to speak of. i dunno how long this had been the case - but i knew i could "save" one of the guys so i took him home. he looked TERRIBLE for about 10 days - but he soon perked up and he became a favorite of mine.
i've never really seen the prices that our LFS have to pay for their livestock, but even a greedy person can see that there's simply a better ROI (return on investment) with LIVEstock than with "DEADstock" (which sounds like a place to meet a lot of folks with tie-dye).
i've considered asking for a district manager's name and number or SOMETHING and presenting myself as the SEAS prez rather than some with a shaved head and sandals
i know i don't go in there anymore for my other pet needs b/c they don't need anymore money that can be used to continue their horrid treatment of their reef-related livestock.
they should
STOP CARRYING salwater livestock in their stores - like petsmart did. i think petsmart stopped b/c they realized that they weren't seeing a lot of $$$ from saltwater sales - so they nixed it.
open up their warehouse (General Pet) so that us saltwater enthusiasts can see their livestock before it becomes clinging-to-livestock.
at the LEAST - provide MUCH BETTER, FREE handouts to their customers... maybe something like one of those Branson brochure dispensing thingys you see in every hotel lobby chock fulla BASIC, GENERALIZED information that could point newbie hobbyists in the right way.
oh well, sorry to rant - just had the morning free of distractions - and the lights aren't on yet over the 110 :smokin:
