G. ternatensis vs. G. smithii

just wondering what your guys opinions would be. i'm putting together a 29g reef tank and will finally have a place for a mantis shrimp(really wanted one ever since i read about tim the super mantis) i really like the colours of the G. ternatensis but want a mantis that will most likely get along w/ some fish and wll be interactive(at least somewhat) which sounds most like G. smithii. O. scyllarus would be cool too but i think it would probably go for the fish.

Depends dramatically on individual "personalities". I have a smithii that almost never opens its burrow, much less leaves it. If I didn't know it was there, I doubt I would ever find it.

I just brought back about 20 G. smithii and they are highly variable in terms of aggression and boldness. Some attack anything that moves, others always hide. Personality wise, this seems to be a highly variable species.

On the other hand, I have never been impressed with G. ternatensis and how hardy it is. They are easy for a few months, but I can rarely keep them more than a year.

I have 2 G smithii and 1 female G tern. They have all molted 3 or 4 times since ive had them. The Gtern very aggressive. She is in a 3g pico and is almost 3 inches. Both of the smithiis are about 2.5 inches and they hide a lot. IMO the tern is way cooler and gets larger. I personally like the color of the male G terns but my female is way "prettier" than either smithii.
