G3 Firmware update via Apex?

I am setting up 2 XR30 G3 Pros. I'm new to Apex and new to Radions... The Ecotech site says to update firmware in order to get Apex compatibility. Does that apply to the G3's? Can I update the firmware via the Apex? Do the G3's even need an update to work with Apex?

It needs to be on 1.7.8. If these are newer radions, you should be good to go. I just installed mine (g3pro) a couple weeks ago and it was on that version from the factory.
Make sure your apex modules are up to date too.

Thanks Reduck! Hooking those bad boys up to the Apex tonight... Will be shining over an empty tank for a little while yet. I'm trying really hard to take my time with my new build.

Thanks! I saw one in Jackson on Craigslist, but holding off on any new livestock until I get the new build established. I'm trying to be patient this time after making rookie mistakes with my old tank. Can't wait to put all the new equipment to work growing corals!
