Ok, so this is really an update to another thread I started, but hte subject to this one seems to better describe it.
I purchased a large colony of galaxea from ebay a few weeks ago. it is not your typical metalic green galaxea in that it has shorter polyps and is a lighter green. after a few days it starte dto show signs of brown jelly disease. I posted here and didnt get much response. I also posted in the LPS forum and didnt get 1 single reply there. I did some research and some googleing, and found this site
http://www.ericborneman.com/Brown%2...wn Jelly.html
while it was helpful, it was not exactly what I was looking for. so here is what I have done to combat the issue.
1. dipped effected ares in freshwater/iodine dip. used 5 drops lugols per cup ro/di water. Needless to say coral was NOT happy with this and didnt extend polyps for several days. the brown jelly did turn white and slowed its progress, but did not go away and actually spread.
2. Final solution was to actually frag off damaged areas back to good tissue.
coral is now in recovery and slowly extending it's polyps. hopefully within 3 days it should all be fully extended and recovered.
