Galaxea questions

Just got a galaxea frag a couple of days ago. Was going to let it sit in the sand for a couple of weeks to get it acclimated to the tank. Was wondering where to place it. I've read that I can put it anywhere in the tank. I have 2 kessil a360w running at 50% max light and intensity for 2 hours during the day around 12-2. I've read they like moderate light and I think I have the lights set to be moderate. I have a torch in the middle of my 55 gal tank that is happy with the flow. Also, do I need to feed it anything like shrimp or will water changes and reef chili be enough?

I wouldn't say anywhere, but they can adapt to your lighting. Slowly move it up to a medium light area. You don't have to feed it, but reef chili or the like will suffice. Your biggest concern will be the final placement, galaxea have extremely long sweepers and will destroy their neighbors if given the chance. Medium light, medium flow and plenty of room.

Like mentioned above these corals are not too particular when it comes down to lighting & flow, but those sweepers they have can definitely do some serious damage. No matter where you place it in your tank just remember to give it a wide birth.

Wherever you put it just keep in mind it can let out 6-8"+ sweeper tentacles that will melt anything in their way. Probably one of the strongest stinging most aggressive corals out there imo

Thanks everyone. You all reassured me of what I was thinking. I've got a nice spot that will be far away from anything important.
