Gap in acan

Hi all, noticed today that my acan has a gap in it at the top in the pictures. Not really noticed before, it's about 2 weeks into the tank. Is this normal? I ask as it's my first lps coral and no experience. It looks healthy and seems to feed.

Can I ask, how do they grow new heads, where will I see them coming from?

New tiny heads will form on the outside and below the base of the mature one.
