Garf Bonsai: Brown or Bleaching? Should I Move?

Hi All,

I bought a variety of pieces from Steve Garrett. All are doing excellent except for the Garf Bonsai is discoloring a little bit. Parts of it look like it's bleaching and parts look like it's browning.

I've read a ton of threads about placement, some have great results high light, some low light, and with me not knowing whether this is bleaching or browning, I'm not sure if I know what to do (or should do anything?)

Tank:
6 t5s. on stands only a few inches off the glass.
18" tall tank.
Params

Ca: 440
Alk: 10
Mg: 1350
Phos: 0.04
Nitrates: 0.0

All other SPS is great and growing.

But right now, the Garf Bonsai a few inches off the ground, fairly low for an SPS in the tank. At it's base a bit looks like it's browning, and a bit looks like it's turning white / bleaching.

Should I move it to lower light? or leave it be? I glued it down, so I'd rather not move it, but I fear it might continue losing color.

Close up Shot (taken with iPhone, so the color is a bit wonky, but look at the base and in the middle, and you can see it's void of purple)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

iam no expert. but it looks happy to me. polyp extension looks good. it probably just needs some time. new frags may lose a little color at first and then come back in a month or so.

Mine have been more purple lower in the tank and lighter the higher up they are. Yours looks good! Let it settle in and it will take off.

It's fine. I would leave it be. Steve's corals come grown under the sun & halide. So you can expect some sort of shift. With that said I can't get my Bonsai to colour up for the life of me I got it from Atlantis. I did just get a dozen or so frags from Steve and they all love being exposed to every bit of light I have they are acclimated to a lot of light coming out of his system.

some corals just do that until they settle in. I have a huge tricolor leather I frag all the time and they go brown then color up after a bit in their final location. It could be shock from transport or like mentioned the shift in lighting
