garf purple bonsai lighting

Hi, I got a small bonsai 3 weeks ago, so as not to shock it, I placed it around the middle in about 150 PAR. It still looks exactly the same, except the back side that does'nt get direct light is a bit lighter, from dark purple to beige. I assume it needs more light, but how much should I increase in one shot? To 200 PAR?.... more? Thanks

Yes....I have three frags and it seems like they grow better in high light but have alot better color in some shade.....They are the hardest of of the 40 different sps I have to find the right location.

IMO there are two kinds of Bonsai floating around, one is the earlier one which is slow growing and likes shade and is more purple, the more recent one people seem to have is faster growing likes high light, and is bluer. Both seem to hate being moved a ton. I have mine (which I think is the second edition) in high light/flow, it's growing reasonable quickly and is picking up a lot of blue tones. I say if it's growing don't mess with it.

i have mine about mid tank, rough guess i would say they are about 10 inches from my leds. Its purple but not much pe since changing from m/h to leds.

Mine bleached then PE went to crap. Found red bugs. Dipped about 4 separate times over 4 weeks until no evidence of red bugs. After last dip PE improved. Purple at most light exposed surfaces started coming back. So I moved higher up about mid tank. Now even more purple coming and more PE.
