ive been reading that if you are having trouble with a fish feeding that garlic is the go, why is this?
Do you just add a clove of garlic some water with the fish food in it? i would love to know the theory behind this!!

Many foods are now available with garlic already in it. Some people who make their own food will just add garlic extract to it.

The claims are that it's an appetite stimulant (since many ill fish won't eat much) and that it has some immune system boosting properties. The latter seems to be also true in humans, but I don't know if that's what started this whole thing.

OK the latter does sound very familiar to humans, i cant see there being anything wrong with it,fish have to have an imune system aswell i suppose? have you had any experiences with it?

dont chop up real garlic bulbs... i have heard of people doing it but you want a liquidy extract so it can soak into the food...the garlic chunks will just sit with the food and not get eaten...

look at products Garlic Guard...seachem has a garlic extract

basically Garlic has alot of vitamin C and something called allicin which may be related to vitamin c but is good for the immune system...garlic can also be used with fish that become finicky at feeding time due to the ick they have ....some fish wont eat and it has a smell on it that will make anything wanna taste it

i used to enrich all my fish food with garlic but that was when i was FO now I have an SPS tank and i want use garlic because it has tons of nitrates and phosphates in it

The garlic products at the LFS are actually fairly prices for the volume. Garlic extract from the grocery/health store was pricey when I compared to SeaChem or Kent. Perhaps I was not looking correctly.
