the only problem i see with going with an online provider is that if you don't see the coral, you do not know how large it is going to be so with the number of frags you will get be limited. i agree with gcarrol though that a tonga (wild caught) variety may be best for the color test and frankyreef has a point that millipora's are too easy to grow. by the time of the swap, people will already be trimming it, lol. It would probably be more cost effective if you went with a store which tranships sps frequently like fragfarmer or even black coral hawaii wouldn't it? or possibly even see if you could get someone that is not participating to donate or sell you a larger colony. you could also even go one more step with wild caught colonies vs agricultured ones(or maricultured)
