GBM vs Harlequin Tusk

Help!?*#@$

I have a pair of GBM that has suddenly taken a nasty disposition towards my Harlequin Tuskfish.

They have been in the tank for over a year with little problems... but now the Gold Band Maroon (female) is just all over the tusk, so I have to decide which to part with :worried:

I'd like some help deciding which should stay or go

We'd need to see some more of your stock list to say for sure, but since the maroons are getting aggressive (as is typical of them) I'd find a more suitable home for them. It's likely they'll begin to stress more fish than just the tusk.

in truth, the GBM's have been removed temporarily... but I'd like to hear which fish they'd rather see with the following tankmates.

the rest of the tank inhabitants:
misc. hawkfish
sohal
hippo
yellow
and clown tang

With that mean of a crew, the GSMs might fit right in lol. I'd be worried about the tusk and hawk handling it in there, and if you want an aggressive tank like that I'd probably yank those two. You're looking for trouble with that tang mix, so be ready to move when things get ugly in case you're unwilling to do something about the sohal and clown tangs right now. How long has this group been together?

shockingly enough... they have all been together for about 3 years, with the exception of the clown tang, being 1 year

Nice. :) I originally read the clown tang as plural, so that's a little better, too. I hope they continue to get along. In any case, I'd probably keep the GSMs. Some tusks can be pretty easy to bully.

Some can be incredibly shy pushovers, and others can be every bit as mean as their jaws would indicate. They're pretty variable!
