GBTA getting too big!!

I have successfully nursed my bleached GBTA back to great health. It is now quickly outgrowing its corner of the tank. I don't know what to do about it. I really love this particular GBTA as it NEVER moves. It is just getting dangerously close to some of my SPS, and I don't know what to do with it. I cant move it because the tank is jam packed. I don't know if I want to trade for a smaller one becase a new one might want to move all over to find a spot. Is this thing just going to keep growing? Its getting closer to my Ricordeas too. I don't like that...

Not sure how big it is now, but I have a few in my 70gal that don't even pretend to divide until they reach 16" across.

They grow quickly, divide, etc. From the sounds of your description, tank plans, etc., I would find it a new home. Unless you want your tank to look like this someday:

yeah I hear you, I think that I need to get rid of it, but my tomato clown lives in it, and loves his life in there. It is also my wifes favorite tank inhabitant. I have mostly sps now, and fear that this think will look like that soon. I will get a pic of it tomorrow to show you what I am dealing with. Thanks for the pic.

Thats a good thought. its foot is buried deep inside of a conch shell. I don't really know how to get a great look at it without disturbing it too much. I have an empty frag tank setup that just got water today. I don't want to move it in there though. The frag setup only has 130watts PCs, and is fresh saltwater from today. No cycle yet. Definitely not mature enough for the nem yet.

Can't say I'd mind that too much :D. I am thinking of setting up a tank specifically for my old female H. crispa. At least that would keep spawning disasters isolated...

How exactly did you nurse it back? I have two RBTA that after they split bleached out. They still eat and bubble but I can not get them to get there coloring back. It's been months and it is frustrating.

Coral C's, might want to start a thread and post a picture.

fwiw: I find my BTAs would like a bit of nitrate, feeding, and the option to choose intense or less then intense lighting.

i was going to say that maybe you can trade it in for a smaller one but im sure your clownfish would end up killing it. maybe you can talk your wife into a larger tank to to house her favorite inhabitant in a 55,75, or 90g. ;)

I am trying to keep it small for now, I actually have a beautiful 75RR sitting in my spare bedroom empty. ($350 If anyone is interested LOL). I am going to do some serious rearanging and fragging today to open up the right corner of my tank which should give it the entire bottom 1/3 of the tank to sprawl out in :)

great lighting, pristine water conditions, good flow. I think these are all factors in its recovery. I will get you before, and afters, today of bothe the tank, and the anenome recovery.

That would be much appreciated.

shrug, i know this prob isnt a popular belief around here but change the flow to where the nem is and it will move if its unhappy...

i had the same problem so i had to move quite a bit of rock around to move stuff away from my nem... i like this approach better than the flow idea but both are options.

Scott: In the picture you posted, is that a single large anemone, or multiple smaller ones?
Hi Randy,

At the time of that picture, there were 5 BTAs around that pillar of rock. In the picture you can see all or at least a part of 4. I try to keep the anemone population in that tank below 7.

The largest in that picture has an oral disk 16" across without measuring the tentacles.

Picture of Clowns for size comparion, thefemale clown is 5"

I rearranged the tank. The problem was not moving it. It is in a conch shell and has never moved from it (knock on wood). It seems to be okay where it is and now it has about 12" to expand. The tank looks nice now too :)

Here is a picture of it all bleached out.

Here is what the right side of the tank looked like before. the anemone was touching that frag to the left of it, and the closest ricordea.

I will get you some after pics very soon.
