GBTA help needed

I bought a 75g tank last Sunday with all inhabitants included. All the owner could tell me is "It's been running for quite awhile and has been doing fine." Well, needless to say, his version of fine is not at all fine. The water stank first and foremost, which is never a good sign. First thing we did was dump half the water and do a water change. Unfortunately, this tank houses an anemone who isn't in the best of shape. His mouth is open most of the day and his tentacles aren't sticky. In order to feed he opens his mouth and exposes his insides to "grab" the food. Today I fed a shrimp, which he ingested then ejected a couple hours later. Is there anything that can be fed to help him out? I know feeding is secondary to absorbing light, but it seems to reason that this might be a quicker way to get him healthy. The system has a 4 bulb T5 lighting over it now with bulbs of unknown age, the LED lighting should be here Wednesday. I guess my main question is how can I help him get healthy? I really don't want him dying a killing the rest of the coral in the tank.

yes.. stop feeding him shrimp. His insides turning slightly outside isn't that big of a deal. Anemone's aren't used to being fed large pieces of anything, and most BTA's aren't that sticky to begin with. I would start feeding it mysis shrimp (or likewise sized food). It'll plump up and look healthy in no time. I actually believe that light can be secondary to a physical food source if needed with anemone's.
