In my display tank I had 2 nice bubble tip anenomes. I had a RBTA, which I have had for about a year, then a GBTA which I've had for several months. Both looked very well and my clowns loved to host in them.
Last Friday evening I came home to a major problem. I went into my fish room and found the floor was wet, then I noticed my 100 gallon sump was empty. I looked over to the 50 gallon RO top off tank and it was empty as well. I looked at my 2 display tanks and they were full, then I discovered the cause of the problem. One of my turbo snails decided to crawl into my drain on one of the displays and essentially occluded it, thus it overflowed and continued to do so until the sump was empty. Most everything was mad in the tank and I soon found out why...the salinity in the tank was 1.015.
Over the next few hours I worked at raising the salinity back up to 1.024
My RBTA essentially melted into a pile of slime and has since been removed. The GBTA had all of its "fingers/tenicles" deflated for about a day or two, then yesterday I started to get bubble tips again, although not as big as before and it is not as full as it was before. Its mouth seems large and appears partially open, but I never could see it before so I don't know what it looked like prior to this incident. I'm hopeful it will survive.
Any suggestions what I should do for this guy? Should I try to feed it? If so, what? My clowns are trying to host in it some, I think they are a bit lost because they had 2 large anenomes and now they have this...which is only about a 1/3 of the size they are used to.
