GBTA Question

Sorry for my n00bness...

Anemones are practically carriers of water, and they expel water, and inhale "new water"...

Is this correct?

I just purchased this GBTA a couple of days ago. It stuck to the rock immediately. It reacts to touch instantly. It will not take any food (tried silversides and brine shrimp).

This morning it got to about a dollar coin size and now it's back to normal.

Thoughts?

What are your parameters, and how old is the tank? 2 questions everyone will ask you anyways. I got a GBTA last week, and it didnt do this, but then again, they are all different and act different depending on how you acclimate them. I emptied about half the water in the bag out, and added a 1 drop/sec line from my tank for bout 30 mins. then I poured a bit more water out and floated the bag for 30 mins and every 15 mins I added 1/4 cup of my water. The reason I'm telling you this is because from what I have learned and experienced Anemones expel the water from the bag or should at least do it and obtain new water within themselves from your tank... So what your anemone might have done was expel the water(hence him shrinking up) to take on new water. Also, I've read not to feed an anemone 24-36 hours after introduction to a new habitat.

All normal, they contract when they poop too. Remember their mouth and anus is the same. Don't feed him for a while, let him get used to the tank. There are arguments debating if you should feed them at all. I used to feed mine twice a week, then down to once a week, now I randomly feed him. If you are going to feed him do not feed him silversides, use shrimp, mysis or fish like salmon. I feed wild caught salmon.
