GBTA won't stop roaming.....

As the title says.....I have had the GBTA for about 3-4 weeks now and it hasn't stopped roaming. The longest it has stayed in one spot has been about 2-3 days. It looks excellent and has grown and eats since I brought it home.

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate 0-5 (I think it is because I am due for a water change)
Temp - 79/80

Salinity, I can't remember the exact numbers but it is right in the middle of "desired level" of my hydrometer

What type of lighting do you have?How big of a tank?How well do you take care of the tank?How often do you feed?What do you feed?

It might also help to know what kind of water flow (powerheads) you have going through your DT. If you don't have adequate water flow your nem may be on a never ending journey to find a suitable place to call home.

Another thing worth mentioning is that in my experience hydrometers are very inaccurate. When I first started in the hobby my hydrometer would swing from both extremes within a day for no apparent reason (even after inserting the plug and testing outside the tank). I broke down and bought another one and placed them both in my sump. They both gave conflicting results and I decided to toss them. If your serious about the hobby I would break down and invest the $40 in a cheap refractometer. This hobby has enough "unknown" variables. The last thing I want to worry about is my salinity.

We've been feeding silversides once a week. The tank is under excellent care (like it's our baby). Everyone else gets a variety of mysis shrimp, flakes & pellets, and look to be in excellent health.

Sistom: We've considered the refractometer. It's in the plans for a future purchase. Due to the tank being a corner hex, we think there's plenty of flow w/ 1 Koralina powerhead.

It actually seems like the nem is avoiding the higher-flow areas.

How is the rock work built?Very holy of pretty compact?

try getting it to attach to a piece of rock and use that rock as a island so the anemone doesnt walk anywhere.

Even if he put the aneone on a rock island the anemone could still let lose and start floating across the tank.Mobert has used VERY high flow to keep the nems on one side.If you have the ability to do that then I would say go for it.But if not get down to thr root problem!

I have both rocks with holes and rocks without......it will seem like it gets into a really good deep spot then moves a couple days later....hmmm

Is there anything that might be bothering the anemone?

I've got 2 bta's and they both seemed to like being placed under an overhang or a ledge of some sort so they can peep out from underneath it at they're own will. I put one directly on top of a rock to see if it would like it there but it was loose and floating around within the hour. Placed him back under the ledge and he's just fine.

This may work in your case too.

I don't think anything is bothering it. Although my false percs don't host it the femaile tends to guard it like it belongs to her

How long have you had your anemone? I'm having same issue with my purple gigantea. I've had it for almost a year now, and within the last two months it started to move around. I think it is because it has overgrown the area it is in ( i have a 60g ), but I'm not 100 percent sure. I try to keep it in one corner of the tank but it might not be too happy in it anymore. Anyways I'm thinking about upgrading my tank because of this. I want to keep the purple gigantea happy.

I have had mine for about 1 month. I have a 44g tank, but the nem is small maybe 2-3 inches in diameter

OKay I would then turn off all flow and see were the anemone moves to.I would leave on like a return line or a filter big enough for the tank but any excess flow I would shut off and see were the aneone goes and when the nem seem to settle down in a good spot(hopefully he will) I would then turn on all flow and direct it away from were the anemone is scence he seem not to like much flow.

WARNING!
I WOULD NOT DO THIS METHOD IF YOU HAVE ALOT OF HIGH FLOW CORALS LIKE ACROS,MONTIS,AND SO ON!

I got a rose bubble tip clone from a 125g tank that has around 7 or 8 rbta, the 125g tank is a low flow 250hqi lighted, the rbta reproduce very fast.

Now on my tank with T5s and more watermovement the rbta and the gbta keep moving all over...

mine has been in the same spot for 1.5 years likes it toward the top close to the light and moderate water flow doing quite well my first one made the mistake of being sucked into a filter
