geismann 22k bulb

Has anyone local seen this bulb in action or does someone have it? I am looking for more of a purple out of my set up, the Phoenix are nice but too blue/white. I cant run actinic and was wondering if this could be an option.

I didn't know they had a 22K bulb. Is that a T5?? I'd think that would be super blue to purple.

They are definately blue/purple. They aren't T5, they are HQI MH.

I will tell you this though......the drop in PAR is visible to the naked eye. To my knowledge, neither Sanjay Joshi nor Dana Riddle have run lab tests on this bulb yet.

Sanjay ran a test on an 20k blue bulb, not the 20k megachrome, and I was thinking it might have been this bulb. I searched/googled a geisemann 20k blue and found nothing-as far as a bulb FS. Premiumaquatics has the 22k I might give them a buzz and see if the have fired it up. The 20K blue had OK par not as good as the Phoenix but ok??

I have a pic of the 22k Giesemann towards the end of my thread. It looks like a 14K Phoenix/AC. Its not as blue as I expected.

Still a very nice crisp look though. It is also not as blue as I would like. That is a bummer for you at that price if you were wanting more blue! I did just receive my Helios 20k bulbs and they are VERY nice color wise. Not the par of the Phoenix but a better color for my situation.
If you are looking for a bulb that make things POP with out actinic, then I would give the Helios 20k bulb a shot.

Yea, i was wanting a deeper blue. Oh well. I heard good things about the helios. do you have a pic?

I can post a pic but it is of a vast difference in how the tanks are viewed. Mine is a top down view with no viewable sides while yours is a regular tank. I would think that the Helios would be incredible on your tank. It has a really nice spike in that lower 400-420 nm range. If you would like to try the bulb for a few days you are more than welcome to do so. Send me the 22k and I can mail you the Helios bulb. I would still like to give it a whirl to see the color. I also noticed a BIG difference when I switched to the aqua medic electronic ballasts-very peaceful. JLMK if you want to use the bulb for a few days and I will ship it to you for a spin. I really, really like them!! Then after a few days we can send them back to each other
