Geismann Spectra

I'm still desperately waiting to see if I can get a price quote on the Spectra... any news on that front?

No word yet, they still have not received the fixtures. They may get some by the end of the month but they won't have the complete system then so they are not sure what to charge for them. May still be a couple months. Sorry that is not much help.

If you need anything else just let me know.

Price on the fixture with no halide bulbs or halide ballasts would come to $1345. You could then go back and add in any halide ballast or halide bulb that we sell to go with this fixture. The fixture would be shipping to you straight from Germany, which would put the freight at $225. This would get to you in about 6wks, 8wks at the max. If you have any questions please email sales@premiumaquatics.com.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Hey Jeremy,

So is this the official quote? So it would be:

$1345 (base)+ $225(Shipping) + halide ballast?

Does this come with the hanging kit, the T5 ballast, the T5 lamps, etc?

Also is the ballast also supplied by them?

Thanks =)

Kinetic, It looks like you would be better off just ordering the standard 250watt Spectra from Premium Aqua, then doing the conversion yourself. Special ordering is not worth it. I have a infiniti that I converted to using a IC electronic ballast and 120v T5 ballast. The problem you will run into is that Giesemann uses 220v ballast on everything and in order to use the fixture in the US you have to use there 120v to 220v transformer, me heat, more space and something else to break. Again my advice, if you are handy is to get the fixture and gut it. You might even be able to find some 54watt dimmable T5 ballast (0-10v). Basically just build your own fixture. HTH

What's the main difference between the Spectra system and the newer Infinity system's? Isn't the Infinity systems the one with the newer tech? Why would someone go Spectra over Infinity? The reason I'm asking is because I'm currently looking for a lighting system for my 40x30x20 project and deciding between Giesemann or Sfiligoi.

One a side note do you guys think a Infinity 1x250 would be sufficient for my sized tank raise 8 inches up with about 18-19 inchs of water height in a primarily SPS setup? Thanks for all the advance in advance!

spectra uses single ended halides, that's about it.

i don't know why single ended isn't more popular in the states?

Thanks for the info. Interesting. It seems the bigger bulb SE would provide more light then a DE build but I guess it comes down the larger reflectors required by the SE setup.
