General question on maintenance

Hi all,

I'm interested to know the amount of effort individuals put into their tanks, on a daily basis, to achieve some of the environments featured on RC, and why without such effort our tanks do not reach their full potential.

I would say I put around at least half hour every day. Could be a little more.

Depending how "hard core" one plans to go with there tank I say would vary. I do water changes and maitenece every 2 weeks which takes at least a couple of hours. The rest of my time on other days goes to cleaning + feeding which doesnt really take alot of time, but then again my tank doesnt have as much in it as the veterens do here

I put about a half an our a day into toping off, feeding, checking levels (salinity) and when i do water changes i do it on my days off of work, take a few hours.

Personally i have two tanks. A 5.5g desktop nano and a 20g long tank. I have everything setup on timers so really the only thing i do on a daily basis is clean the front glass with my MagFloat. I feed every other day. And do water changes once a month. That's pretty much it.....

I do the low maintenance approach and only feed each day. On the weekends I'll do a water change and testing, but both don't take that long. I tell people that taking care of my tanks takes less time than taking care of a cat.

I spend about an hour a day :feeding,check water,topping off and cleaning.

I too don't spend too much time. I certainly don't count it in hrs/day. Some days I spend over an hour, but my daily routine is done in minutes.

I dose 2-part and feed every day during the week which takes about 5 minutes. I do a 10% water change that takes about 30 minutes on the weekends. I clean the skimmer cup every couple days and do small maintenance here and there but doesn't take much time at all.

We feed the fish (takes only a minute or two), check over the fish and tank daily, wipe of algae with magfloat every few days (new tank = algae).

I do a water change weekly (takes maybe 1/2 hour), but the water is made up and mixed the day before.

Testing weekly, takes 15 mins, maybe. There was more testing going on during the cycle.

It's interesting that Lpabsolute gets away with monthly changes whereas most other seem to require weekly changes?

So probably 30 mins. a day for cleaning/feeding with 2 hours doing a water change etc. that's pretty much what I do.
