Hello, I wanna post some pics of my system to know your opinion in general, about my aquascape, my equipment, any modification anyone would suggest. & I'm having a problem with my nitrates level, I've finished cycling the tank, but didn't add fish yet & my nitrates level is 40 ppm & as you can see in the next pics that I'm having in my sump live rocks & dead rocks as well as a mesh bag with Seachem Denitrate, so any suggestions to lower them??? P.S. the denitrate was added 3 days ago but no changes yet. Another issue, I'm having something on one of my live rock & I dunno if this is Aiptasia or not, any opinions? And if it's Aiptasia, what can I do?

Don't worry about nitrates yet. If your cycle is finished meaning ammonia and nitrites are 0 then you can do a large water change to lower the nitrates. Don't worry about chasing 0 nitrates. If you an get your nitrates under 20 even down to 10 your're doing good with a new tank. I use chaeto for nitrate export but as your tank matures it will actually get rid of nitrates on it's own.

No I don't see any aiptasia in that picture and everything looks good to me.

You have your sump reversed. You should have the water returning from the tank to the larger section with the skimmer and have the pump in the smaller section. The water level in the larger section should be the divider and the return should be below that. Otherwise you are going to have a hard time with that skimmer as the water level will fluctuate with evaporation.

I'm no expert, but that little anemone doesn't look like Aiptasia to me - more like a tiny rock flower anemone, maybe? If so, you scored! They're cool 'nems.
