Generator for the fishies

So in the wind yesterday a neighbor's tree came down and knocked out power to our block. I broke out the generator (which I admit was bought for the fish tanks) but it was pouring rain. Silly question but do you think I did the generator any harm in having it out, running, in the pouring rain?

FYI the power is back on, the generator performed flawlessly and seems no worse for the soaking though I will be devising some kind of shelter for it from snow and rain.

I would google the model and find the manual. PDF's manuals are normally searchable. Should mention something in it about rain, etc.
