Generators - whats good, whats bad, whats affordable?

im with the honda no questions aswell ..ive only had one b/ strat. generator that did not give probs....

i have honda motors now ..
i aswell wrorked at a tool rental place and can vote for them..i still work with them everyday get a honda if you can spend the x tra couple of bucks..

As for being loud, Listen , the only reason we are using these generators, is because we have no power. This is a BIG problem for us in this hobby. Not only for our tanks, but also for people who like to live normally when we have no power.
I couldn't give a crap if someone thinks my generator is too loud, I have a 15kw with tons a propane to run it, At least I know I'll be comfortable and my tank will still be running, The ones who usally complain, are the ones who are trying to sleep with their windows open, because they don't have one.,
Save your money and stick with a generator that is a little louder, and when the power comes back on, take the money you saved and buy more corals and fish!

dave i agree with u. If You are goung to get a generator get the one the will make u comfortable, and for get about the extension cords. :bum:

i have no other shoice of to get one from autozone tthe las one because i was in orlando for the weeckend and i end up coming back with out one i call every lowes in my area and in brower by 8pm and they where sold out i got a chanpion generator 5500 and 6800 at pieck loed any imput on that

holy cow! i was just at Home Depot and the generator that I bought last year for $449 and was 550 or something last weekend is now $699! They are screwing people hard! I thought that type of thing was illegal down here?!?

don to answer your question, yes it will lower the noise considerably.

ive even seen alot of people running there gen at apt complexes, add a muffler and attach a long pipe to vent the exhaust upward away from others apts.
