Genicanthus semifasciatus

Are the Genicanthus semifasciatus difficult to keep? Do they require cool (~75) or warm (79-80) water?

Thanks

Hey Richie, I had mine in warmer water with no problems. Just give them plenty of rock to graze on and hide in. They quickly became one of my favorite fish!!!!!

One of my favorite Genicanthus; however they are somewhat difficult to acquire on a regular basis. They do trickle into wholesalers this time of year. The males are stunning in person. No real extra care needed, except proper QT and a round or 2 of Prazi.

Definitely cool fish. I saw a pair being offered recently in NJ for $300. I resisted the temptation. Let's see some pics if you decided to go for it.

Albano, it was nice meeting you today. Thanks for letting me know about Maximum Reefs. Now I have a new reef store to go too. With the prices that they have, it's well worth the 50 min drive for me. The pair of Swallowtails that I got are BEAUTIFUL.

Thanks again

I have a trio that love in my reef at 75 degrees. They are bulletproof once you put them through prazi. The male is very dominant

A trio of these will reside in my aquarium one day once I upgrade and graduate college. I love these fish especially the coloration of the male. My lfs has a pair that is kept in one of their displays and goes through warmer temps in the summer.

Same here... I'm glad that you took my advice, and took a ride! How weird that we both go there at the same time and start talking! Its great that you were able to get the pair that you wanted...good luck with them
