Geo Calcium Reactor check valve question

I'm a click away from buying a 612 reactor package but I wanted to know if I need the extra brass check valve that is recommended to go in between the CO2 regulator and the CO2 input to the reactor. I noticed that the reactor has a check valve on it's CO2 connection on the reactor but why does GEO recommend another check valve in line on top of that?

I have used the standard check valve from GEO for many years, but I run my reactors 24/7.

Oh, I plan to run mine 24/7 but what happens when you disconnect the bottle to refill? I'm assuming the stock one works and the second is just a double pre-caution.

The check valve that came with my Geo has failed in less than a year. Makes me glad I bought a food grade tank. I just hope the solenoid on my controller doesn't get fried.
