Georgia Aquarium worth it?

Taking a little vacation up to north Georgia. We were thinking of visiting the aquarium. If anyone has any info I would appreciate it. I wasn't very impressed with Sea World as they dont really have much coral reef stuff. Sea world was ok just not worth the money imo.
Thanks, Ed

i haven't read the above posts so forgive me if i repeat something.

If you're looking for coral then the aquarium is.... at best... ok. Unless they have changed something very recently they only have ONE big tank.. and it is A BIG tank with corals. The rest is pretty much standard fish stuff that you'd see anywhere.

Call ahead. The crowds can really put a hamper on the fun... PARTICULARLY if you have young kids.

Another idea... contact the ATLANTA REEF CLUB for things to do / places to visit in the area. If you're interested in doing this give me a pm and I'll help out.

As someone who has visited the National Aquarium (in Baltimore) more times than I can remember (and I love it), the Georgia Aquarium was a whole different ballgame. The big tank in B'more doesn't even have real coral in it, so to see real coral, even if it is just starting out, was incredible. Plus the Georgia Aquarium has some really interesting exhibits. I loved their garden eels and their huge crabs (what type of crabs were they? Its been a few years now.) And I was psyched that I didn't have to go to Japan to see a whale shark. I really liked the potato groupers, too. Some very cool stuff.

The GA aquarium is the best for presentaion IMO it has a great Saltwater reef section with waves, and the main tank is cool specially the giant viewing wall, but to me just didnt have as much to offer as the TN aquarium. The TN aquarium has as several folk said a large freshwater side and more creatures to see. When we went to TN it took the better part of a day to see and only a few hours at GA. There is also the Ripleys aquarium in Gatlinburg they have the longest tunnel ive ever been in and the have pinguins witch my daughter loved. Its just a third option.

Last time I went to Georgia, I was deeply offended by the predatory nature and unrealistically overbearing presence of the Georgia Highway Patrol.

I managed to escape without any tickets, but if that's how Georgia wants to prop up their failing state budget, I'll be spending my tourist dollars elsewhere. ;)
