Getting an angler soon

If you are unsure about the fish, take a picture and post here (someone here will probably be able to tell you the type). However at that price, it is probably is a Antennarius commersoni.

There was a black anger at our LFS that turned yellow after a couple months.... Just an FYI.

The fish in the "pictus complex" (A. pictus, A. maculatus, and A. commersoni) often start out black or black with orange spots as juvies and change color as adults. However, even adult anglers can change color to match their environment.

It was a commersons. I checked the Petco website an the listing for 'black angler' said commersons. Oh well.

Commersons are really awesome fish, but unless you're ready to house a 10" angler, they aren't the best choice. I've seen an adult orange specimen named "pumpkin" and it's one of the coolest fish I've ever seen.

well, it said painted angler in the store. so it could go either way. I think I'm gonna go for it, and move it to a 40b if needed
