getting anemone to grow?

Hi, I have a bubble tip (I'm not sure because of its purple base) that won't grow. there's a couple of Maroon clowns that has made it their home. I feed the anemone every few days with table shrimp, its under a 250watt MH 14K with 2x65 watt ultra actinics. lights are on for a total of 11 hours. its still very small, I've had it for a few months now.

any ideas to get it to grow?

How big is your tank? What are your water parameters?

55 gallon tank, haven't tested the water but I'm pretty sure everything is within specs since I do water changes (5-10 gallons) every week. have LPS, zoanthids and mushrooms that are doing fine. My Maroon is bigger than my anemone and I've suspected that she might be bothering it.

The clown could be nipping it but I agree with the other poster. Get some reliable test kits or take some of your water to a trustworthy LFS and get it tested for SG, Ca, Alk, Ammonia, Nitrates and if possible Mg.

Try feeding it some salmon bits. I used to feed mine salmon and it got larger.

watch it to make sure that nobody is eating the food you give it...i had a few shrimp that would steal the food...then one day the maroon beat one up, and it became food...

thats funny! I have 3 peppermint shrimps and they've tried to steal food on a couple occasions, when I feed it, I'll hang around and fend them off with chopsticks till the anemone eats it all up. I have a test kit and I'll check the parameters.

My peppermint did it once,and only once he became the meal. LOL

My peppermint shrimps(6 of them)... ganged up on my BTA and tried eating it. I was SHOCKED as they were usually good and reefsafe, but soon I noticed them slowly crippled and laying around the BTA. The Occelaris took care of them lol.

They also like chuncks of scallops, with good feeding in three to four months you will be sorry you wanted it to grow
