Getting back in after a dozen plus years

So, I got bit by the reef bug back in the early 2000s. At the time I was in the USAF and I had to move. I swore that I would do it again when I retired. It's time! I want to I a nano to start with. I contemplated the BioCube at one point while I was still serving, but I didn't pull the trigger. I'm looking for suggestions on a tank setup in the 29g range that won't need extensive modifications. I was looking at the 29HQI years ago, but I bet there are newer models possibly offering LESs capable of sps.

Well I pulled the trigger and got an Innovative Marine Abyss Peninsula. I went with the IM ghost skimmer as well. Now I'm looking for lights. I am very interested in the Kissel LED. What other light systems should I be looking at?

Hey mate, that is an awesome tank you got, IM has some really cool stuff.
I've put my papers in with the RNZ AF and will be out mid next month. I was only a crash firefighter though so we never went many places (I mean, there's only 3 air bases in the country!)
For lighting if you're set on LEDs I've seen good stuff from maxspect razors, though they may be a bit outdated now? Kessils also. Lots of people are talking about NanoBox and AI primes. I'm sure there's more out there and available to you in the US. Look forward to seeing how it develops!

Thanks Benar. Are you retiring or just moving on to something else? Either way, I wish you well.
I like the LEDs because they use less electricity and generate much less heat. I once had a 55gallon with 800w of metal halide lighting. I prefer not to go that route if I can avoid it.

I would look for an AI hydra 26 or 52..I don't know the dimensions of the tank you got but I would think at the appropriate height the 26 would be fine and is quite capable of keeping SPS and more so with the HD version

I went to a local fish store and got to see a few different lights. I saw the Kessil 160 and 360. I saw the AIs as well. After talking with the storekeeper and hearing his experiences, I ordered the Kessil a160we tuna blue. I also got the controller and the flex mount.
I might actually get some sand and water in it this weekend!

Going back to plumbing/gas. The fire trade has a high turnover and 8 years was more than enough for me!

Nice choice in light, especially with that controller. Not long to go now!

Love my kessil's. If you go the sps route, then just add another, that's what I did. Welcome back!
