Getting back into hobby....which setup would you choose?

Patince, I got my 180g with and 55g sump, with 3 MH and t12 actinics, return pump, etc for $600 took me few months to find it though

+1
Also, a standard 125 is a standard 90 that's 2' longer. A 6' by 2' tank is like adding a couch to the room so you'll want to consider where you'll put it.

That's a great price... almost too great? Make sure it holds water etc

Ya...the footprint is what concerns me. I might be able to make it work, though.

With the holidays coming up many people will be buying newer tanks and looking to drop their existing ones. Also some of the newer people will fail soon enough and will be looking to get out by March.

Like everything else, there are varied opinions. Some don't mind the API tests for cycling (myself included); some even continue to use API for Nitrate afterward. I use Salifert for Alk/Mg/Ca and Nitrate now, Hanna Checker for Phosphorus (converted to Phosphate).

I agree with this statement as well. For cycling, sure, afterwards for me, its the trash.
