Getting Fish Out of Tank

Hello,

I have an 8 inch Lunare Wrasse that I would like to get out of my 300 gall tank. I have not had luck with getting him into a net with bait. Thanks in advance.

I am like 7 and 0 with my trap. Eventually, EVERY fish will enter it. Patience is the key (and a little starvation ;) )

My lunare was the hardest fish I ever had to catch in my 200 until now! I have this domino damsel that is vicious and is terrorizing several fish and I am ready to get a spear to get him out! I think I have caught the rest of them a few times each but can come close to the damsel. He took one whole fin off my burrfish and that was the last straw! Good luck with the wrasse! Try that 2 liter bottle trap.

i have had problems with nets too BUT try cornering the fish and use a plastic bucket. so bucket is pressed up against a side of the tank with the fish inside. then bring the bucket up the side of the wall, and either slowly slide a cover over the bucket or quickly turn it right side up near the top

I had to remove a red coris from my old 180 reef and it was the worst experience of my reef keeping career. Not only is this fish very wart and smart but they burrow like no other and I had to rip 90% of everyting out of the tank before I could fish him out. I would imagine a lunare to nearly be as difficult, just a very intelligent and wary fish. I wish you better luck than I had.

Clear out 1/4 of your tank (rocks, corals etc, move them to the other 3/4 of the tank. Get a piece of plexiglass that is as wide as the inside of your tank (have a friend help you). When the lunar goes to the bare side turn the plexiglass and box him in. Have the net ready and a friend to hold the plexiglass while you snare him. Good luck.

Don't feed the tank unless the food is in the trap. They will all eventually enter when they get hungry enough. The only fish that I ever had that would not enter the trap were some YT blue damsels that could eat enough from the rock.

After a little while, the fish will be swimming into the trap while you are lowering it to the bottom of the tank.

THIS!

I am probably 18 or 19 and 0 with my trap. Lot's of patience and only feed from the trap without the pumps on (It keeps the food in the trap)

I have also used #20 barbless hooks and Mysis...

As a reference I used these tricks in my 300 and never touched a piece of rock or coral.

I agree with the trap methodology. However, I have also had good luck with waking at 3 AM, turning on the lights, and simply scoping the fish out. Particularly in cases where the fish ahd to be out NOW, not waiting for the fish to get hungry. The sudden lights on technique seems to "daze: the fish, and they stagger around "drunk". I have caught an fish with my ahnds with this method. However, I would try the trap first.
