Getting frag off of frag rack

I have a frag rack (homemade egg crate rack) with about 20 different corals on it. All have been doing really well but there is a monti sps that has grown onto the frag rack and when I tried to move it, it wouldn't budge. How do I get it off with out damaging the coral. It's done really well in my tank so I don't think it will die if it breaks but I have 0 nada zip experience with fragging besides tearing Kenya trees out only to fine more of them later. Any advice?

You could always pull the eggcrate out and cut the plastic and put a new eggcrate in? Me, I would just pry it off. It might break, but you can always glue the pieces to frag plugs and trade with friends.
Cheers! Mark

Thanks mark! I have thought about that but I also have a lot of other frags on the rack and it would not be a fun job to pull all of them off and find temporary placement and then re set them all up lol. Like I said I just have not experience with fragging and just don't wanna kill any of my corals. This one was cheap and was small but something I would like to see growing on my rocks one day. I have not researched any fragging methods at all so I guess it's time I did. Thanks again. If you have any fragging suggestions I am open to anything. Thanks again

I have found Montis to be very forgiving. You can just snap off a piece and glue it to a frag plug or rock. Got a pic.?

I can get a pic tomorrow. I'm not sure what kind this one is but it's covered in little bright red polyps so thick that I can't the under skeleton. It's definitely healthy. I wanna say the guy said it was a superman Monti but definitely don't hold me to that.

youd be surprised how well wire cutters work to cut eggcrate. if you have coral bone snips those work as well. hth let us know how it goes.

What would I use to do it? I have read that it's bad to stick any metal at all in the tank so scissors are out of the question.
I use snips and scissors all the time. Although if they are rusty or greasy, I wouldn't put them in.
